LEGACY: YOUTUBE BRANDCAST (2012-PRESENT)

Since 2009, we have produced numerous spectacles of all sizes for Alphabet brands Google & YouTube, ranging from product launches and sales conferences to Creator concerts and themed-parties.

THE PINNACLE OF THIS PARTNERSHIP is the annual Digital Newfront-turned-Upfront spectacle known as YouTube Brandcast, which we helped originate and continue to manage to this day.

A BRIEF HISTORY

2012

It all started when.…

2012 was the dawn of the Digital Newfronts targeting ad buyers for online content, and we helped YouTube set the bar with an innovative show at the Beacon Theatre.

We worked with Obscura Digital to design LED walls and a "holographic" musion screen blasted attendees with channel partners' original content.

A surprise finale by JAY Z set the stage for good things to come.

2013

Massive Production

Brandcast returns for a second year determined to top itself and carve out a niche among fledgling Newfronts.

It took four days to transform Pier 36 into a 1,600 seat theatre with massive wrap-around video walls that opened to reveal execs and Creators, incl. Jeffrey Katzenberg (Dreamworks SKG), Snoop Dogg and Macklemore.

2014

Innovative Staging

Now a highly coveted Newfront ticket, Brandcast moves to the Theater at MSG in its third year.

Automated scenery and projection mapping created a dynamic stage for executives and guest speakers, including Shane Smith (Vice), Sal Masakela (RedBull) and teen fashion sensation Bethany Mota. Pharrell Williams and Janelle Monae were among the musical acts that rocked the stage.

2015

Latest Technology

Every year, we were challenged to deliver the most high resolution and dynamic screen configurations possible.

Brandcast returned to the Theatre at MSG with massive, curved, bi-parting video screens, featuring automated entrances and a gigantic, custom donut turntable. Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson closed the show with a purple Cadillac and an electrifying version of "Uptown Funk".

2016

Seamless Execution

The move into the Javits North Hall was accompanied by a change in show format: executives spoke first, followed by a break for dinner and drinks and then a surprise musical performance by Sia.

A hi-res curved hero screen was flanked by smaller screens on spinning turntables, creating multiple automated entrances for speakers and performers.

“Brandcast is all the originality of YouTube synthesized and spit out as a hyper-charged modern day variety show.”

2017

Showstopping Performances

A one-man digital chorus! A piano parade on wheels! The next year at Javits came with confetti and no fire alarms(!)

Host James Corden led “YouTube: The Musical” a Broadway-style revue complete with dancers, dinosaurs and revolving sets. After an hour of eat and drink, Katy Perry closed the show with a stylized half hour set.

2018

Majestic Venues

As it begins to outgrow the Newfronts, Brandcast moves to Radio City Music Hall. Collaborating with Obscura DIgital, we are able to expand the show’s canvas by projection-mapping on the venue’s iconic ceiling arches.

The kinetic variety show went down a rabbit hole of YouTube power, including OK GO, Postmodern Jukebox, Tyler Oakley, Trevor Noah, and Camila Cabello. Ariana Grande closed the night with a surprise 3-song set.

2019

High stakes. Delivered.

Back at Radio City in 2019, Brandcast reigns as Queen of the Newfronts. Thousands of invited guests and YouTube fans rock out to Daddy Yankee and Dua Lipa.

We manage a show of high stakes and budget for the 8th consecutive year, working with top talent and partners, and we continue to deliver on our promise of good service, creativity and accountability.

FAST FORWARD TO 2023

2023

After several years that include a pandemic shutdown and a digital-only installment, Brandcast 2023 re-locates to the newly-renovated David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center - and formally graduates from the digital newfronts arena to earn a slot on the network upfronts calendar, targeting the biggest ad buyers in the world. Good Sense & Company returns once again to manage the oversized production.

Unparalleled Spectacle

YouTube CEO Meal Mohan welcomed top brands and creators to show off the platform’s dominion over music, sports, lifestyle and current events. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodall stopped by to plug the league’s connection with YouTube and Doja Cat left us all speechless with her sultry, futuristic performance. Shoutout to agency partners De-Yan for the brilliant stage aesthetic and screen content.

The legacy continues… in 2024
