APRIL 18, 2017 | TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL

2017 marked the 16th installment of the Festival and the third year of programming at the Festival Hub at Spring Studios, where partners and patrons play together. The 5th floor hosted Tribeca Immersive, a sprawling maze of VR and AR experiences, while the 6th floor hosted premiere screenings, Tribeca Talks discussions and exclusive music events.

Radio City Music Hall joined the official roster of Tribeca venues this year, hosting truly unforgettable Opening Night and Closing Night spectacles. The premiere of "Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of our Lives" was followed by a star-studded concert featuring Barry Manilow, Carly Simon, Earth Wind & Fire, Dionne Warwick, Jennifer Hudson and Aretha Franklin. The Festival closed with the 40th anniversary screening of "The Godfather" plus "The Godfather Part II" followed by a conversation with the reunited cast (Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, James Caan, Talia Shire, Robert Duvall and Robert DeNiro) and director Francis Ford Coppola.

P Diddy, Lil' Kim and the Bad Boy Family turned the Beacon Theatre into a funhouse following the "Can't Stop Won't Stop" premiere. Across the festival, conversations with filmmakers (Lena Dunham, Noah Baumbach, Ed Norton, Kate Blanchett) and standout musical performances (Common, blues legend Taj Mahal, and 80's rockers Flock of Seagulls, English Beat and The Alarm) kept audiences rapt with attention.

Other highlights include the 25th Anniversary screening of "Reservoir Dogs" at the Beacon Theatre, an unforgettable Storytelling session with Bruce Springsteen & Tom Hanks, the inaugural Tribeca Games Festival and the consistently mind-bending Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards.
