LEGACY: Tribeca Film Festival | 2002-2019

Good Sense & Company’s founders played an instrumental role in the design, development and execution of the Tribeca Film Festival from the beginning.

OVER AN 18 YEAR SPAN we managed all of Tribeca’s Special Events - including countless premiere screenings, red carpets, parties, panels, awards ceremonies, musical performances and sponsor activations.

AN ABRIDGED TIMELINE

2002

In the wake of 9/11, the Tribeca Film Festival is formed to help revitalize lower Manhattan.

Joshua Cicerone joins a small and scrappy team of freelancers tasked with producing Special Events for the inaugural festival.

2003

Tribeca decides to do it again, only bigger.

Jared Siegel answers an ad on Craigslist to become Production Director for Tribeca’s Special Events, where he meets Creative Director Joshua Cicerone.

2003-2013 Tribeca Drive In

In 2003 Cicerone & Siegel pitch and produce 3 nights of free outdoor movie screenings sponsored by GM. The Tribeca Drive In would become a signature festival event that was beloved by the community. It returned to lower Manhattan annually for 13 years and 39 screenings.

It also marked the start of a lasting partnership.

Foundations

18 years = thousands of red carpet premieres.

Tribeca connected us to friends and partners that would become our good company. Our work style crystallized under the pace and pressure of this high-profile festival.

When Good Sense & Company formed, the Tribeca Film Festival became our first flagship client.

2010 Birth of Big Air

We made BMX legend Mat Hoffman’s dreams come true by building his record-breaking half-pipe at the Tribeca Drive-In for the premiere of THE BIRTH OF BIG AIR, a documentary about his life. The screening ended with a blazing half-pipe spectacular featuring Mat’s BMX and skater cohorts.

2011 Opening Night

This unforgettable Opening Night was an unprecedented FREE public event at the Tribeca Drive In. First, the premiere of THE UNION, Cameron Crowe's music doc about Elton John and Leon Russell, followed by a 30-minute live outdoor concert by Sir Elton John himself.

2015 Tribeca Hub

In 2015 we helped develop and manage Tribeca’s new creative hub at Spring Studios.

For the next four years the Tribeca Hub would host an exciting lineup of parties, panels, screenings, concerts, awards shows and interactive installations.

2017 Opening Night

The premiere of CLIVE DAVIS: THE SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES - at Radio City Music Hall - was followed by a star-studded concert featuring Barry Manilow, Carly Simon, Earth Wind & Fire, Dionne Warwick, Jennifer Hudson and Aretha Franklin.

Tribeca Rocks

A decade of live music.

Tribeca Talks

Every year Tribeca hosted an incredible lineup of panel discussion and interviews, making A-list talent handling and stage management part of our agency DNA.

2018 The Godfather Anniversary Event

Radio City Music Hall hosted an 8-hour marathon that began with a restored 40th anniversary screening of Francis Ford Coppola's THE GODFATHER and continued with THE GODFATHER PART II - followed by a conversation with Coppola and the reunited cast.

2019 Yesterday

There were many highlights of 2019, but the most poignant was the premiere and Q&A for Danny Boyle’s YESTERDAY at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center.

The film’s star Himesh Patel ended the event with a sweet solo set of Beatles songs befitting of Closing Night.

In 2020 the Tribeca Film Festival was postponed due to COVID-19.

The following year it would re-emerge as the Tribeca Festival, with renewed leadership, progrmming and direction.

We are grateful for Tribeca’s role in creating our agency and for the longstanding partnership we shared for nearly two decades.
